Pest Control Training Companies

There are a number of providers for pest control training across Australia including MPL Training, Protrain and Rapid Solutions.

Pest Control Courses and Qualifications

There are a number of different qualifications required to obtain licenses for the different types of pest control. For example, general pest control, timber pest management and fumigation all need different qualifications and licensing.

These are the main pest control courses to provide the qualification for the different pest control licenses:

Pest Technician basic qualification:

To be able to apply for a pest control license you need to complete and meet the required standard in the following units from the Certificate III in Urban Pest Management qualification CPP30119:

  • CPPUPM3005 Manage pests without applying pesticides
  • CPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides
  • CPPUPM3018 Maintain equipment and pesticide storage area in pest management vehicles

Timber Pest Manager qualification:

To be able to apply for a timber pest manager license you need to complete and meet the required standard in the following units from the Certificate III in Urban Pest Management qualification CPP30119:

  • CPPUPM3008 Inspect and report on timber pests.
  • CPPUPM3010 Control timber pests.

Certificate III in Urban Pest Management (CPP30119)

This is a nationally recognised qualification covering both general pest and timber pest qualifications and also other aspects of being a professional pest control technician, such as understanding workplace, health and safety and customer service.

There is also a Certificate IV in Urban Pest Management (CPP41619 ) which provide advance pest management and associated business management training.

Pest Control Licenses

The pest control license requirements vary slightly by state. There is no national pest control license and you need to apply for license for each state in which you intend to operate.

The license is often split into sub-sections (eg. General Pest Control and Timber Pests) and you need to have the necessary qualifications for those sections you wish to have a license.
