Termite efficacy
Studies have proven that Altriset is highly effective against termites, and halts termite feeding within hours of exposure. Laboratory tests have shown that as termites tunnel through the treated zone, they quickly acquire a lethal dose of Altriset.
Once affected by Altriset, termites will begin to exhibit increased aggregation, enhanced grooming and contact with other colony members. Affected termites will become more lethargic and show signs of muscle paralysis and decreased coordination, and termite mortality will ultimately occur within several days (Figure 1). The delayed termite mortality and increased colony interaction are key reasons why Altriset is so effective.
Feeding cessation
In a laboratory test arena, termites (R. flavipes) were allowed to tunnel in treated sand (for approximately 30 minutes) or treated soil (for approximately 90 minutes), then removed to an untreated arena provisioned with a cellulose food source. Evaluation of paper towel disks after 2-3 days revealed that termites exposed to Altriset consumed no paper, while termites in untreated controls consumed approximately 180mm2 of paper on average. Soils contained 20-97% sand and 1-5% organic matter.1
Eight-year USDA forest service efficacy test
In a long-term USDA Forest Service concrete slab test, Altriset has demonstrated excellent performance for eight years at the four test sites. The non-repellent and delayed action of Altriset was apparent in year four in Florida, where a single plot was initially attacked, but devoid of termites in subsequent years (Figure 2). The same effect is noted in year five in South Carolina. The most difficult site for a termiticide to be successful is Mississippi, and Altriset has achieved 100% control for eight straight years.
Altriset stops termites feeding within hours
The study illustrates that within 72 hours, after only 30-90 minutes exposure to Altriset, termites are unable to feed.

When used in accordance with its label, Altriset halts termite feeding within hours of exposure to control the population within three months. It also provides residual protection for more than seven years. Altriset has quickly gained ground as the premier termiticide choice for many pest management professionals.
