PCT International – Trusted Australian Termite Products

PCT International proudly develops and manufactures its termite products here in Australia, making them a sure choice for effective termite control.

Pest managers need to have access to a range of termite control solutions to cover all situations, with baits, ‘non-repellent’ termiticides and ‘repellent’ termiticides being the core products. It’s good to know that Australian pest managers can access all these products from a trusted Australian-owned company – PCT International. Furthermore, pest managers can have confidence they work, as all their products are developed, tested and manufactured here in Australia. Pest managers in the know have been trusting PCT products for many years.

Nemesis Termite Baiting System

The Nemesis Termite Baiting System was one of the first PCT products on the market and indeed, one of the first termite baits to be launched in Australia. It has now been on the market for nearly 20 years. Its success has been built on the highly palatable bait matrix, developed here in Australia, tested on Australian termites.

Gavin Hutton, from Pest Aid in Australia, has been using Nemesis since its launch. “We have been baiting termite colonies in South Australia for nearly 20 years now and have never had a failure with Nemesis termite bait. The bait matrix is exceptionally palatable to all species for in-ground and above-ground situations,” he said.

There are two reasons for the high palatability of Nemesis. Firstly, the use of food-grade pure cellulose in the bait matrix and secondly, with the bait supplied in 100 g pouches, it gives pest managers the opportunity to place the whole pouch in the above-ground bait stations, to retain moisture and palatability for an extended period.

This high palatability and acceptance by a wide range of termite species has allowed Nemesis to expand into Asia too, where different termite species also readily accept the bait.

As one of the traditional baiting systems, it includes both above-ground and in-ground bait stations, which contain ridged timber inserts. The Australian field-testing during development paid off, as it ensured all elements are optimised for Australian termites.

“We find the in-ground station really easy to service compared to alternative products, with the timber attractant block the best interceptor for the widest range of termite species. The termites actively come up through the grooves in the blocks,” said Mr Hutton.

All PCT products are available exclusively through Agserv, who helped organise personalisation of the Nemesis bait station lids for Pest Aid, which has proven a great advantage for them in both maintaining and expanding their customer base.

Terminade Termiticide (Fipronil)

Fipronil is a trusted termiticide, but it still needs to be formulated correctly to ensure a quality product and long-lasting performance. The uniform particle size and excellent suspension characteristics of the proprietary Terminade formulation are key factors that deliver the required performance. As PCT International is a quality assured organisation to the International Standard ISO 9001:2015, pest managers can be confident of a high quality product every time they open a bottle.

Terminade Termiticide is a fipronil formulation with proven performance. Not only did it complete the necessary field trials and soil distribution studies to support claims and support registration, but having been launched in 2012, it now has over 12 years of proven performance in the field. Terminade has a base of loyal users and continues to attract new customers too.

Garry Wilkin from Central Fumigation & Pest Management Services in WA (main picture, above) is a big supporter of Terminade. The company supplies pest control services from its base in Geraldton all through central WA, from Sharks Bay in the north to Lancelin in the south and inland as far as Wiluna.

“We’ve been using Terminade for over two years now. Initially we gave it a go based on the competitive pricing, but we quickly realised it compares well with other fipronil brands. None of our team have had a callback and we find it doesn’t drop out on mixing, like some other products,” commented Mr Wilkin.

Importantly, PCT continues to test and develop its products. Recent work on Terminade has established excellent horizontal movement through coarse textured soil types. This has resulted in a label upgrade to allow 300 mm injection drill hole spaces for sandy soils.

Aquastar 100SC Termiticide and Insecticide (Bifenthrin)

When it comes to termiticides, pest managers often want a repellent option. Aquastar 100SC, based on bifenthrin, is PCT’s repellent termiticide, which provides up to ten years’ protection from termites (south of the Tropic of Capricorn). The flexible label allows for a full range of termite treatments, including pre- and post-construction use, reticulation system recharges and nest treatments.

The key benefit of Aquastar is that not only does it provide a value for money and long-lasting termiticide, it doubles up as a general pest insecticide too. The label includes all common household pests including spiders, cockroaches, ants, fleas, flies, mosquitoes and ticks.

Anthony Harb from Knockdown Pest Control in Sydney is a major customer of Aquastar, having used Aquastar for about 15 years.

“We find Aquastar affordable, easy to mix and it delivers great results. We use it for chemical termite barriers, but with its broad label we use it on general pest jobs as well, meaning we carry less product in the ute,” said Mr Harb.

With cost-of-living pressures on businesses as well as homeowners, it’s smart to look at termite control options that reduce costs without compromising on quality. If these options have been developed in Australia and are manufactured in Australia, better still. Maybe it’s worth a closer look at PCT termite products?
