Professor Chow-Yang Lee
Professor Chow-Yang Lee is one of the leading global researchers in the field of urban entomology and pest management.
Currently, Prof Lee is the Endowed Presidential Chair in Urban Entomology at the University of California, Riverside.
In addition to his active research programs, Prof Lee is in high demand as a speaker at entomology and pest control conferences around the globe.
Current Position
Prof. Chow-Yang Lee is a Professor and Endowed Presidential Chair in Urban Entomology at the University of California, Riverside, USA.
Experience
Prof. Lee has been a researcher and lecturer in urban entomology for nearly 30 years, starting in 1996 at the Universiti Sains Malaysia as a lecturer.
Having carried out research in multiple countries (especially in Asia) and on a wide range of urban pests, there are few researchers in the world with the breadth of knowledge and experience in urban pest management, as Prof. Lee.
To be offered the position of Endowed Presidential Chair in Urban Entomology at the University of California back in 2019, illustrates the high regard Prof. Lee is held in, within the research community.
Interests
Prof. Lee’s research focuses on the behavioural, ecological and physiological adaptations of urban insect pests, particularly bed bugs, termites, cockroaches, ants and mosquitoes.
The results of the research carried out by his team is then used “to design, evaluate and integrate multiple management tactics to provide a system level approach to pest management”.
Prof. Lee is also interested in the role of human activities in the global spread of urban insect pests.
