Termite Professional Seminar Series

Professional Pest Manager is excited to be hosting the Termite Professional Seminar series in cities across Australia in 2026.

Following on from the success of the inaugural Termite Professional Conference in 2023, Professional Pest Manager events hit the road in 2026 with the Termite Professional Seminar series.

The Termite Professional Seminar series will give pest managers the opportunity to listen to, and question, global experts in termite research – Assoc. Professor Theo Evans (University of Western Australia) and Assist. Professor Johnalyn Gordon (University of Florida). These two termite researchers bring complementary skill sets: Dr Evans with over 30 years studying the behaviour of Australian termite species and carrying out field trials on a wide range of termite products; and Dr Gordon with her knowledge of how termite products actually work on both individual termites and the colony.

“We know pest managers are hungry for knowledge. And whilst there are regular trade presentations, it is rare for pest managers to get the opportunity to learn from leading termite researchers,” commented Dr Phil Ridley, director at Professional Pest Manager magazine.

“We know from the conference feedback from 2023 that pest managers like to hear ‘straight from the horse’s mouth’ – from genuine experts, who are actively researching termite behaviour and control methods. The format of these seminars allows the information to be presented in an independent way and, importantly, allows pest managers to ask questions.”

The day will be split into two parts, with the morning focused on termite biology and behaviour, and the afternoon focused on how termite control products actually work. The program is designed to appeal to all, whether a newbie or experienced termite professional, as it will include both basic and ‘refresher’ content, through to the latest research. We are particularly excited for Dr Evans to be presenting some of his latest work, in which he has developed a model for assessing termite damage and how long termites may have been present in the building.

The one-day seminars will be held in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, between June 15-19. Early bird pricing is available until March 15, so pest managers are encouraged to book now.

“We would love to hold this event in additional locations, but due to speaker availability, it’s just not possible this time,” commented Dr Ridley.

“However, if these events prove to be a success, like the Termite Professional Conference, we will certainly be looking to expand to additional locations in the future. In fact, for Perth and maybe Adelaide, there is the potential for a termite seminar later in the year.”

Pest managers from Perth and Adelaide, and indeed from other areas outside of Sydney, Melbourne and Southeast Queensland, are encouraged to still register their interest and preferred location through the website, as this will help assess the feasibility of holding events in additional locations in the future.
