AEPMA’s Pesticon 2021 conference will offer pest managers an opportunity to learn about the latest developments within our industry.
If Covid has shown us nothing else, it is that our reliance on digital technology is here to stay and technology will only become more prevalent in our day to day lives. On this theme, AEPMA will be hosting Pesticon 2021, ‘Pest Management in the Digital Age’, from September 22-24, 2021, at The Star Gold Coast.
Vasili Tsoutouras, AEPMA President, said, “After such a trying 12 months, I am sure you will agree that face to face contact is something that we have all missed. Pesticon 2021 will o er a chance for all of us to come together as an industry and finally meet in person! It will provide an ideal opportunity for us to gain new insights and understanding of the pest management business of the future, make new connections and strengthen existing relationships.”
‘Technology futurist’ Shara Evans is the event’s keynote presenter. Regarded as a leading expert on emerging technologies, cybersecurity, digital privacy and the future of health, humanity and work, Ms Evans regularly features on television, having appeared on Sky News, ABC’s Q&A, The Project, Weekend Sunrise, Lateline, and more. Ms Evans shows organisations how to take advantage of the opportunities underpinned by emerging technologies. As one of the world’s top female futurists, she is one of those rare individuals who merges incredible technical skills with an innate understanding of the social and economic impact of new technologies.
As for the conference program, Mr Tsoutouras and Rob Boschma will kick things o with a panel session entitled ‘Converting your Business to Digital’. Dr Don Ewart will enlighten attendees on the latest in termite work, in a talk specifically about ‘Termites – What Happens When Things Go Wrong’.
Another event not to be missed is the ‘Ask an Expert’ workshop run by a panel of experienced AEPMA pest managers. Other conference highlights include presentations from Raja Mahendran, Stephen Doggett, and Steve Broadbent, while other speakers will cover topics such as digital marketing, social media, employment and insurance.
On the Friday morning session of the conference, AEPMA will host a panel session on mental health. A special guest speaker will talk about their own personal experience with mental health, followed by a panel session aiming at shining a light on this important topic. Attendees will gain insight on how they can support their colleagues and ways we can all ‘start the conversation’.
The exhibition hall will once again be a hub of activity at the conference. Key manufacturers and suppliers will be showcasing the latest products and services for all aspects of pest business. New to this year’s event, a short program of presentations will run in the exhibition hall itself.
Mr Tsoutouras added, “The conference will offer some fantastic networking opportunities, such as the welcome reception and gala dinner. We’re looking forward to comedian Andrew Nason keeping us entertained during the gala dinner awards ceremony! All of this is thanks to our sponsors: Agserv, BASF, Bayer, Ensystex, FMC, Podium, Rapid Solutions, Sentricon and Syngenta.
“With travel opportunities somewhat limited over the last 18 months, Pesticon 2021 is also a great opportunity for pest managers to bring their families along too and enjoy some time out after the conference to experience all that the Gold Coast has to offer.”
