The finalists of Pest Technician of the Year 2024 all demonstrated strong pest control knowledge and excellent customer service skills. But there can be only one winner…
Professional Pest Manager is pleased to announce the 2024 winner of the Pest Technician of the Year award is Roming Auv from Total Guard Pest Control, Brisbane.

The two other runners-up, and highly commended, were Dean Gselmann from Sunny Coast Pest Control, on the Sunshine Coast, and Josh Pavic from Pest Proofing Solutions in Brisbane. The awards were presented at the Pestech Roadshows by Dr Phil Ridley, Director at Professional Pest Manager magazine and Jason Green, General Manager at Agserv.

Now in its third year, the award recognises those that are actually providing the pest management services; those dealing with the pest problems on site and interacting with the customers.
“With the number of entrants increasing significantly year on year, the award is already starting to develop a certain prestige and can be leveraged by the winner and the business they work for as a powerful marketing tool,” said Dr Phil Ridley, Director of BD Publications, which runs Professional Pest Manager magazine.
Mr Auv was a finalist in 2023 and was keen to try again in 2024, managing to go on and win the award.
“It’s truly an honour to be part of this initiative and to receive this year’s award,” said Mr Auv. “This recognition is a transformative experience and a tremendous boost for both our business’s reputation and the services we offer our clients.”
The competition involved the completion of a short but challenging online quiz that included pest identification and treatment questions, submission of customer reviews and a panel interview for the finalists.
“Much like last year, the finalists all excelled in their approach to pest management, attention to detail and their customer service skills. Given that we are a service industry, this is essential for success,” commented Dr Ridley.
“We were really pleased with the number of entrants, which was up on the good number from last year. There certainly is a lot of competition to win this award. However, we would like to see some more female technicians throwing their hat in the ring in 2024. For those of you interested in a bit of inter-state rivalry, it should also be noted that this year’s winner and runners-up all came from QLD! ” Dr Ridley added.
Professional Pest Manager would like to thank Agserv for its continued support in sponsoring the competition.
