Attending a pest industry conference is a great excuse for an overseas trip. Below are the key pest control events taking place around the world in 2020 and their latest status in light of the the Covid-19 pandemic.
While Australia hosts a number of excellent pest control events throughout the year, there is also a very good offering of conferences and events overseas. For business owners, an overseas conference can also be tax deductible, making it an excellent value for money holiday.
UK
The key UK pest control conference alternates each year between PestEx and PPC live. PPC Live is the trade exhibition and conference run by BPCA (British Pest Control Association) and is designed for technicians, surveyors and company owners to help improve technical knowledge and to help with their continual professional development. The next PestEx event will be held in London in March, 2021.
Spain
ICUP, the International Conference on Urban Pests, is held every three years in a different location. The 2020 conference due to be held in Barcelona, Spain from June 29 to July 1 has been rescheduled to March 9, 2021 and will be a virtual event.
Australia
The hosting of the annual industry pest control conference alternates between AEPMA and Rapid Solutions and is generally held on the Gold Coast, Queensland. This year it is the turn of AEPMA, who had planned to host Pesticon 2020 between September 16-18, 2020, with the theme of ‘Pest management in the digital age’. However, the event has been rescheduled to 22-24 September, 2021. The event will be held at The Star, Gold Coast, as previously.
Agserv’s Pestech roadshow is cancelled for 2020 and will be replaced with a virtual event.
Asia
The FAOPMA/Pest Summit conference evolved through the amalgamation of the two big regional conferences: FAOPMA (Federation of Asian and Oceania Pest Management Association) and Pest Summit. This is the biggest pest control conference in Asia Pacific, typically with 1000+ international delegates and at least as many from the host country. The program has a wide range speakers from around the world covering pest control and public health. The atmosphere and enthusiasm for pest control at the conference is fairly unique. This year’s FAOPMA/Pest Summit Conference will be held on November 18-19, 2020 as a virtual event.
USA
Pestworld is the annual US pest control conference run by NPMA (National Pest Management Association). With over 500 international delegates on top of the thousands of local attendees and over 165 exhibitors, it is a serious affair. The conference generally alternates between the east and west coast each year and is held in October. This year it is is a virtual conference, held on October 13-16, 2020.
France
Parasitec is the big European pest conference held in different countries and at different times each year. This year it will be in Paris, from November 18-20, 2020.
