2023 is a bumper year for pest control conferences with both the inaugural Termite Professional Conference and the PestWorld conference in Hawaii being particular highlights.
Termite Professional Conference
What is it?
The inaugural Termite Professional Conference (“Be the Expert”) is being run by Professional Pest Manager magazine. It is a two-day conference focused on termites, with day one focused on termite biology and behaviour and day two focused on termite management and reporting.
Why would you go?
For anyone involved in termite management, this conference represents a unique opportunity to listen to and question leading Australian and US termite researchers, along with industry professionals. Businesses with a focus on termites and any termite technicians will benefit. Attendance at the conference will ensure their termite knowledge is up to date, providing skills that can win more jobs and help attain a level of professionalism that will protect their businesses from potential liability. The conference is supported by a range of suppliers involved in termite management.

July 5-7, Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast.
Pesticon
What is it?
Pesticon is the annual industry conference, run by AEPMA. This year’s conference is focused on the customer – “What customers want” – and aims to focus on the importance of understanding the customer and how this understanding can improve the management and performance of a pest control business.
Why would you go?
Targeting business owners, Pesticon provides a great opportunity for attendees to learn more about managing a pest management business and pick up tips to improve business performance and drive growth. The conference traditionally has a strong exhibition hall featuring many of the leading suppliers.
When is it?
August 16-18, Gold Coast.
FAOPMA-Pest Summit
What is it?
The FAOPMA-Pest Summit is the premiere pest conference in Asia, both in terms of size and content, and is supported by the industry pest associations from across the region, including Australia. The theme for the conference has yet to be announced, but the program is generally varied with both technical and business content, presented by a range of international speakers.
Why would you go?
Attending the FAOPMA-Pest Summit provides a varied learning experience and an insight into pest control across the region. Even for businesses not operating in Asia, attending this conference at least once is generally a rewarding experience.
When is it?
September 12-14, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
PestWorld
What is it?
PestWorld is the annual pest control conference run by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) in the US. It is the largest pest control conference, typically with over 3,000 delegates from over 55 countries. It has multiple conference streams on technical and business topics with leading researchers and industry experts.
Why would you go?
PestWorld should be attended by every pest manager at least once. Every five years, Pestworld returns to Hawaii. This represents the closest hosting location to Australia and therefore the easiest option for Australian pest managers to experience PestWorld. Of course it’s a great opportunity to combine work with a holiday too!
