WaspJet aerosol from Sumitomo continues to be a trusted product for pest managers dealing with wasp infestations.
Only quality products stand the test of time. Over the last ten years, when other wasp aerosol products have come and gone, WaspJet from Sumitomo has gone from strength to strength. Its success is multifaceted, based on high performance, safety features and value for money.
While many wasp aerosols, past and present, are based on the same formulation, WaspJet uses a unique combination of actives, at a concentration double that of other formulations. The combination of this active mixture/concentration – together with the high output formulation that delivers 10 g of product per second – results in a product that delivers instant immobilisation of wasp nests (assuming your spraying is accurate!).
When dealing with wasps, safety is paramount; not only to avoid getting stung, but with nests often sited around electrical boxes and cabling, it’s important to avoid shorting electrical circuits.
The WaspJet formulation has a spray range of up to 6 m (when the can is new), down to around 3 m when the can is nearly finished. This spray range means pest managers can keep their distance from the nest and in many circumstances can avoid the need to climb ladders. The use of carbon dioxide as the propellent (which is the reason for the spray distance drop off as the can ages) and specialist solvents means the formulation has low electrical conductivity. While it is not recommended to spray electrical installations directly, the use of the aerosol nearby does not present a concern.

Dealing with wasp nests at residential or commercial accounts is more often than not an add-on service, with wasp nests often spotted during an inspection or other service. With WaspJet Pro on hand, it’s easy and quick to deal with the problem on the spot. With each can containing enough product to deal with 15 nests (on average), it’s a very profitable incremental sale.
Over the years, WaspJet has built an increasing following of loyal users based on these performance and safety benefits.
“I’ve always been a big fan of the quick knockdown aerosol wasp products, not only for the convenience but more importantly for the safety factor. Being able to use a product that has virtually immediate knockdown and being able to apply from a distance is not only safer for my technicians but also for any members of the public that may inadvertently be nearby,” said Jay Turner, owner at Laguna Pest Control on the Sunshine Coast.
“When one of our industry’s manufacturers discontinued their ‘wasp knockdown product’ I was forced to trial a range of competitors’ products. When compared side by side with the other available products on the market, Sumitomo’s WaspJet Pro stood out with better range and less oily residue.”
Commenting on the success of WaspJet Pro, Charles McClintock, Sumitomo business manager said, “WaspJet Pro is an essential part of many pest managers’ toolboxes. It’s great to have on hand when paper wasp nests are spotted on site. It’s quick and easy to use, delivers great performance and let’s be honest, it is quite fun to use too!”
WaspJet is best used on exposed wasp nests, typically Australian paper wasp species, so enclosed European wasp nests or European wasp nests in the ground should be dealt with using insecticide powder.
