TERMITE PROFESSIONAL CONFERENCE 2023

July 2023 will see the inaugural Termite Professional Conference held on the Sunshine Coast, QLD.

Professional Pest Manager is pleased to announce the hosting of the inaugural Termite Professional Conference, to take place in July 2023 on the Sunshine Coast.

“When we launched Termite Professional magazine, it was always the intention to host a termite conference. Covid delayed these plans, but we’re really excited that it’s now come to fruition,” said Dr Phil Ridley, director at BD Publications, publisher of Professional Pest Manager and Termite Professional magazines.

“Over the years, many of our readers have asked us to pull together an educational conference. With a number of other conferences, roadshows and training courses available to pest managers, it was important for us to provide something different. We believe the Termite Professional Conference is just that.”

The conference will include talks from leading researchers from Australia and the US, and will provide termite professionals with a deeper understanding of termite biology and behaviour, as well as the latest information on termite management techniques.

“The conference program includes leading termite researchers from Australia including Prof Nate Lo and Ass. Prof Theo Evans. In addition we have Ass. Prof Thomas Chouvenc from the University of Florida in the US, with his research on bait processing in termite colonies. Not only is it a great opportunity for termite professionals to hear the latest research from these leading researchers in one event, it’s a great opportunity to question these experts in person,” said Dr Ridley.

Supported by other researchers such as Scott Kleinschmidt from ATP Research, the wide range of educational talks will ensure delegates boost their knowledge of termites and termite management, thus improving their services and businesses.

“The draft program is already in place, but there will be updates over the coming weeks as the speakers for the various sessions are confirmed. Of course, we will also have trade exhibits and some short talks from suppliers, as it’s important to keep in touch with the latest product and service offerings as well,” said Dr Ridley.

The conference will take place on the Sunshine Coast during the winter school holiday in 2023 at Maroochy RSL Events Centre, a state-of-the-art, purpose built conference venue.

“It was important for us to choose an attractive winter venue, which allows pest managers to combine business with pleasure. We didn’t want to do another conference on the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast is a beautiful location with plenty to do. Many pest managers will be able to fly direct to the Sunshine Coast, but if not, you can always fly into Brisbane. Maroochydore is an easy hour’s drive north.”

As the conference venue is taking place during the school holidays, pest managers should consider booking as soon as possible to secure the cheapest flights and book accommodation, before options become more limited.

The Sunshine Coast is a fantastic destination for a winter break

“It’s important to book early. Not only to get the best accommodation deals, but due to having limited spaces at the conference. Delegates can access the early bird discount if booked before the end of the year. Even when the early bird discount ends, there are discounts available for companies looking to send three or more delegates. In addition, paid subscribers to the full package of Professional Pest Manager magazine will get a further discount,” said Dr Ridley.

“For termite professionals, this is the event not be missed. We look forward to seeing you on the Sunshine Coast next year.”
