Bell Labs’ range of baits and secure stations suit any rodent job pest managers may encounter.
Well known in the US as a leading manufacturer of rodent control products, Bell Laboratories has firmly established its range of baits and stations in the Australian market.
Pest managers are looking to Bell’s popular high quality bait stations for both mild to severe mouse or rat infestations. Made from heavy-duty, injection moulded plastic, they provide excellent quality, durability and ease of use.
Tamper-resistant bait stations are a popular option with pest managers due to their superior ability to protect bait from dust, dirt, moisture and other contaminants, so the bait stays fresh for longer. The stations also ensure bait is kept away from livestock, pets and other non-target animals, making it a safer option. Pest managers can also more accurately monitor rodent activity to determine areas of heavy and mild infestation.
Bell’s Protecta Evo Ambush (main picture, above) is its most advanced low- profile bait station. Offering multiple options, it is compatible with Bell’s Load-N-Lock system and can either hold a T-Rex rat trap, Mini-Rex mouse trap, or up to four bait Blox. The station can only be accessed once it has been opened with the key and the baffles keep bait and traps out of reach of children and non-target animals for peace of mind. The Evo Ambush contains four vertical bait positions with locking rods that won ́t fall out during cleaning and a removable tray with rounded corners for quick station servicing. The Evo Ambush is rated Tier 1 under US EPA, making it tamper-resistant for both children and dogs, providing pest managers with an efficient but safe option for any situation.
Also available in Australia is Bell’s Protecta Shield bait station which offers a low-profile design constructed from impact-resistant, injection-moulded plastic. Unlike the Evo Ambush, it holds three 28g Blox or soft bait. Its rounded interior corners allow for easy access and maintenance and features a single locking mechanism and a side- opening lid for fast servicing and locking rods that secure bait but don ́t fall out during cleaning. This station is appropriate for bait placement against walls or the perimeter of buildings, indoors and out, and easily ts behind appliances or placed in doorways. Unlike the Protecta Evo Ambush, it is not compatible with traps or the Load-N-Lock system.
The Protecta LP rodent bait station is another low-profile design from Bell, made to fit in corners, along walls, and under pallets where rodents like to travel. Patented, angled entry holes give rats and mice easy access to the bait inside, making it perfect for housing Bell’s all-weather Blox, Place Pacs and pelleted bait. This tamper-resistant bait station locks automatically when closed and unlocks with a special two-pronged key that also opens other Bell bait stations.
Bell’s Protecta Sidekick is an economical way to upgrade from using non-tamper-resistant bait stations to the security and high quality of tamper-resistance. It locks when closed and unlocks with Bell’s Protecta key. Easy- to-use Sidekick opens to the side for fast, convenient servicing, even when the station is secured. Its interior corners are rounded for easy cleaning, and a built-in card slot holds a Protecta service card for pest managers to use.
Bell’s Protecta Load-N-Lock anchoring system secures Protecta Evo Ambush and Protecta Sidekick bait stations without the added expense, mess, and time associated with traditional anchoring methods. Made of heavy-duty, injection-moulded plastic, the system holds two standard concrete bricks available at most landscape and home improvements stores. It quickly detaches from the base for easy cleaning and servicing. When servicing it, the technician can open the station using Bell’s special key, which will unsnap the base’s locking mechanism.
With an increasing focus on IPM, non-chemical tools for rodent control are becoming of greater importance. Detex, Bell’s non-toxic rodent monitoring bait, is one tool that pest managers should have in their toolbox. Detex with Lumitrack biomarker contains a special additive that causes rodent droppings to glow under UV light, making it easier to spot them in dark or congested areas. These droppings help determine entry points, heavily trafficked pathways, and harbourage areas – information to help improve your baiting strategy.
Bell’s Ditrac Blox and pellets can be used to reduce the initial population for heavy infestations. The single-feed anticoagulant contains the active brodifacoum, making it especially effective on tough-to-control mouse infestations or where resistance might be suspected. Ditrac Blox works well in almost any condition, wet or dry, indoors or out, and its highly palatable formula contains quality food-grade ingredients that rodents can’t resist.
