Rapid Solutions invites those looking for training opportunities this winter to register their interest online.
Rapid Solutions, an organisation that supports more than 2,000 professionals in the pest management and building inspection sectors, has developed a new training services platform that is efficient, easy to use and customer-focused.
Rapid Solutions manager of compliance and strategy, Nikki Garrard, said that the new system was developed after carefully listening to feedback from the industry regarding both current demands and needs for the future.
“We began a process of looking for the best possible platforms and support services that would deliver quality training pathways and industry skills that were needed and demanded by professionals in the sector,” said Ms Garrard.
“It is a better solution for our students and the businesses in which they operate or work. It is supported by a team of highly experienced technical trainers that understand the industry and can work closely with students and in some cases, their employers.”
New for 2018
Alongside the new platform, the popular training course General Pest Management skillset (previously known as Basic Pest Management) has been refreshed to feature updated photographic, written and video content.
The six-month course teaches students the key skills of how to manage pests with and without the use of pesticides, and the maintenance of equipment and pesticide storage. It also covers pest identification, calculations, documentation and safety best practice. Although designed as a six-month course, keen learners can complete the course quicker if they choose to.
Students who successfully complete the course receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment, which can be used in application for a pest control licence (except for WA).
A flexible, multimedia approach
The training platform offers new, modern ways of learning that include online modules, webinars and video content. Although primarily an online course, students are supported by trainers who will speak with students every week.
Each course is broken into units, so that students are continually assessed as they progress to ensure that each unit is fully completed and any comprehension issues are identified early on. Assessment is conducted through online theory assessment, case studies, and video assessments of practical application. For students, this is as easy as sending a video directly from their mobile device showing evidence of their practical skill. The video is then reviewed by one of the Rapid Solutions accredited and professional trainers.
For students who are brand new to the industry, or for those wanting additional training, the courses include an optional five-day workshop, which gives real, hands-on experience about what it’s like to work in the pest control industry.
The multimedia courses are designed to provide pest managers with different ways of gaining the knowledge required for their trade.
Simpler registration process
The process for registration and enrolment has been simplified, with the addition of a short numeracy and literacy assessment.
“The new training platform is supported by an application and enrolment process to ensure that they have the best opportunity to engage and complete the training programs. A basic assessment as part of application and ensures that students have the skills to complete their training.” Ms Garrard said.
The first intake under the new system began in late May 2018, with enrolments for the second intake opening in June.
Pest managers looking to train (either themselves or their staff) are now invited to register their interest in one of the following four courses:
- CPP30115 Certificate III in Urban Pest Management
- General Pest Management Skillset (units 5, 6 & 18)
- Timber Pest Management Skillset (units 8 & 10)
- Timber Pest Inspection for Builders (unit 8)
Course dates for the General Pest Management skillset are scheduled over the winter period, timed so that students can complete it in time for the busier warmer months.
