The reason cited for the cessation of the scheme was that \u201cover the past few years, the number of HACCP certificates has decreased dramatically, and that downward trend has only accelerated recently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/haccp.com.au\/\">HACCP Australia<\/a> confirms that the statement was actually referring to \u2018Dutch HACCP\u2019, one of the earlier certification schemes\u00a0for HACCP. Dutch HACCP was replaced by the more modern FSSC 22000 scheme, and it is the Dutch HACCP that has been declining in popularity, following the emergence of other, modern replacement schemes and standards (including BRC and Safe Quality Food as well as FSSC 22000). These replacement schemes are often generically referred to as \u2018HACCP schemes\u2019 as well, which has added to the confusion.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 7\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>\u201cThe article is not meant to imply\u00a0a demise of HACCP.
