Scientific name(s):<\/strong> The Gisborne cockroach and most common species of shining cockroach is Drymaplaneta semivitta <\/em>\u00a0<\/em>(5 other Drymaplaneta<\/em> species in Australia)<\/p>\n

Description:<\/strong> Large cockroach with very glossy, dark brown exoskeletons. Nymphs and adults completely wingless. Easily distinguished from nymphs of American cockroach by having white band around the edges of the front half of the body.<\/p>\n

Geographic distribution:<\/strong> Common accros the North Island of New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Habitat:<\/strong> Found under bark and in mulched garden beds.<\/p>\n
