Those who properly wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying pesticides reduce the chance of exposure and the risk of pesticide poisoning,\u201d said <strong>Scott Beel<\/strong>, national sales and marketing manager <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcr.com.au\/\">RCR International<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturers of pesticides must list PPE requirements on the pesticide label.<\/p>\n<h2>Examples of PPE requirements<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>If there is risk of pesticide coming into contact with feet, wear unlined neoprene or rubber boots.<\/li>\n<li>If there is any chance of being sprayed, wear liquid-proof, chemical resistant coveralls. To protect the head wear a hooded coverall or wide-brimmed liquid-proof hat.<\/li>\n<li>If mixing, loading, or handling undiluted pesticides, wear a chemical- resistant apron over cloth coveralls.<\/li>\n<li>If there is risk of coming in contact with the eyes, wear eye protection.<\/li>\n<li>If there is risk of breathing in pesticide vapours, spray particles or dust, wear a respirator designed for pesticides.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Gloves<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cHands should always be protected whenever handling any kind of undiluted or diluted pesticides, unopened or empty pesticide containers, contaminated equipment, clothing and other materials. Do not wear cotton gloves because they do not provide protection against pesticides, or leather gloves as they cannot be properly cleaned,\u201d added Mr Beel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-val.com.au\/nitesafe-nitrile-examination-glove?search=NiteSafe\">NiteSafe disposable gloves<\/a> offer outstanding strength, dexterity and comfort with a broad range of chemical resistance. With airblast spraying, covering the head and neck is especially critical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree factors affect a material\u2019s chemical resistance: the chemical breakthrough time, condition of the chemical resistant material and the type of chemical resistance,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-val.com.au\/hazguard-mp5-disposable-coveralls?search=Hazguard\">Hazguard MP5 Disposable Coverall<\/a> (pictured above) is a water resistant coverall, made from breathable microporous fabric with stitched seams for extra strength.
