Sundew Solutions has announced another addition to its ecowise range. <\/em> <\/p>\n

The professional pest management industry has seen significant evolution in recent years, with increasing focus on formulation safety, operational efficiency, reduced chemical complexity and more environmentally conscious treatment approaches.<\/p>\n

At the same time, pest management professionals continue to demand rapid knockdown performance, flexibility across different treatment environments and products capable of delivering reliable results in difficult-to-reach areas. It is within this changing landscape that Sundew Solutions<\/a> has introduced its latest addition to the ecowise<\/a> range: TyphoonDuo Concentrate Thermal Fogging, Misting and Spraying with Natural Pyrethrin<\/a>. This new multi-application formulation, which was designed to bridge modern operational needs with progressive formulation technology, was approved by the APVMA in late April this year.<\/p>\n

Suitable for the control of both crawling and flying pests including ants, beetles, earwigs, spiders, cockroaches, flies, mosquitoes, moths and other flying insects, TyphoonDuo provides rapid knockdown through thermal fogging, ULV cold misting or direct spray application methods. Developed specifically for professional pest control applications, TyphoonDuo combines high-strength natural pyrethrins with advanced water-based microemulsion technology. The formulation contains 28 g\/L natural pyrethrins, positioning it as a true pro concentrate within the pyrethrum category. According to David Priddy,<\/strong> CEO of Sundew Solutions, the product is a direct response to industry demand for smarter, more practical formulation systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cTyphoonDuo was researched and developed following extensive discussions with pest management professionals, resellers and end users in early 2019, who were looking for a more streamlined and progressive approach to space treatments,\u201d he explains. \u201cThe industry has been asking for products that reduce complexity, reduce chemical loading and improve operational efficiency while still delivering strong knockdown performance. That\u2019s exactly what TyphoonDuo has been designed to achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n

A major point of differentiation for TyphoonDuo is its alignment with the Sundew ecowise philosophy. While thermal fogging itself is not promoted as an ecowise application approach due to the nature of fogging carrier systems, the TyphoonDuo formulation has been specifically designed to support more environmentally conscious pest management practices, particularly when applied through ULV cold misting equipment using water dilution. The product consists of approximately 94% non-hazardous ingredients and utilises a unique water-based microemulsion system rather than relying on high solvent loading traditionally associated with many space treatment formulations.<\/p>\n

Importantly, TyphoonDuo is also formulated without piperonyl butoxide (PBO), a synergist commonly used in pyrethrum products. This PBO-free approach forms a key part of the product\u2019s positioning within the ecowise range.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is growing awareness within the industry and among end customers regarding the chemicals that are actually being applied within treatment environments,\u201d says Mr Priddy. \u201cBeing able to offer a PBO-free formulation based on natural pyrethrins gives operators a cleaner and more transparent service offering, particularly in sensitive environments such as childcare facilities, aged care residences, food handling sites and commercial premises.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the absence of PBO, TyphoonDuo maintains strong knockdown performance through a combination of high active concentration and advanced formulation design. The microemulsion technology allows the active ingredient to remain evenly dispersed when diluted, supporting consistent droplet size, improved stability and reliable application performance. The formulation is also non-flammable, providing an important safety advantage over traditional solvent-heavy systems within the category.<\/p>\n

Sundew believes TyphoonDuo\u2019s advanced water-based microemulsion formulation technology is the first of its kind specifically developed for professional pest management applications in Australia. According to Mr Priddy, this formulation approach reflects a broader shift in product design within the industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cHistorically, a lot of space treatment products have relied heavily on solvent systems,\u201d he says. \u201cWith TyphoonDuo, we wanted to develop something more progressive \u2013 a modern water-based microemulsion system that delivers professional performance while supporting lower solvent loading, improved handling characteristics and alignment with the Sundew ecowise philosophy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The product\u2019s high concentration provides additional operational and environmental benefits. With 28 g\/L natural pyrethrins, operators are able to carry significantly smaller product volumes while still delivering the same amount of active ingredient per cubic metre during treatment. This reduces packaging requirements, lowers transport weight, improves vehicle storage efficiency and decreases the amount of product required to be carried on-site. In practical terms, a single 5 L container of TyphoonDuo contains the equivalent pyrethrin active of approximately 35 L of conventional 4 g\/L pyrethrum formulations currently available in the market.<\/p>\n

Another significant innovation is the product\u2019s multi-application capability. Traditionally, pest managers have often required separate products for thermal fogging, ULV misting and direct spray applications. TyphoonDuo has been specifically designed to support all three treatment methods from the one formulation, simplifying product inventory and improving operational flexibility.<\/p>\n

For ULV misting applications, TyphoonDuo is diluted with water to form a stable microemulsion suitable for space and crack-and-crevice treatments. The formulation can also be applied through conventional spray equipment for targeted surface and harbourage treatments. For thermal fogging applications, the product is used in combination with Sundew ProFog Thermal Fogging Agent<\/a>, a specialised fogging carrier engineered specifically to work with water-based formulations such as TyphoonDuo.<\/p>\n

Mr Priddy believes the integration between the two products is an important advancement for the category. \u201cOne of the biggest technical challenges with thermal fogging has always been compatibility between water-based formulations and fogging carriers,\u201d he says. \u201cProFog was specifically developed to solve that issue while producing a dense, fine fog with excellent hang time and penetration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sundew ProFog features advanced ethoxylated alcohol surfactant technology that allows compatibility with a wide range of formulation types including EC, EW, ME, SL and DC formulations, along with many water-based products such as disinfectants and sanitisers containing glutaraldehyde, peracetic acid and formaldehyde chemistries. This versatility allows Sundew ProFog, available in a convenient 5 L pack, to be used across pest management, industrial sanitation, food processing, vector control, agriculture, grain storage, shipping containers and numerous commercial applications where effective thermal fogging performance is required.<\/p>\n

Both TyphoonDuo Concentrate and Sundew ProFog Thermal Fogging Agent are scheduled to become commercially available through authorised Sundew reseller partners from July 2026. Due to strong industry interest and initial production scheduling, Sundew is encouraging pest management professionals to place orders early to avoid potential delays in supply during the launch period.<\/p>\n

TyphoonDuo Concentrate, which is available in a 5 L pack, represents a significant shift towards more flexible, lower hazard and operationally efficient space treatment systems.
