There is nothing anyone can do about genetic variation; it\u2019s going to happen. However, it is the action of pest managers that can select for these resistant individuals and accelerate the development of resistance. Applying the same insecticide, in the same account, regularly over a long period of time is the main driver of resistance. But inconsistent application or insufficient dosages can also play a role, allowing even weakly resistant individuals to survive and breed, thus developing the resistance levels in the population.
