Professional Pest Manager is now available to pest managers in New Zealand both in print and online.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Although Professional Pest Manager<\/em> magazine has always been available to New Zealand pest managers, the magazine hasn\u2019t actively been promoted in New Zealand, until now. New Zealand pest managers can access the magazine online and will be able to subscribe to receive a printed version of the magazine. They will also get their own dedicated monthly E-Newsletter (PPM Pest E-News) and website<\/a> with content tailored to the New Zealand market.<\/p>\n

\u201cMuch of the magazine content is directly relevant to the New Zealand market (apart from the termite information) and many of the products are the same, so it makes sense to make it easier for New Zealand pest managers to access the magazine,\u201d commented Dr Phil Ridley,<\/strong> director at Professional Pest Manager magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are also generating some New Zealand specific content \u2013 there will be a New Zealand news spread in the magazine, a separate monthly PPM E-News and a dedicated website.\u201d<\/p>\n

The New Zealand version of the website is the location for New Zealand pest managers to sign up and log in. Sign-up is free for the online package, with a paid subscription available soon, which will allow pest managers to receive the printed magazine. However, if you want to receive a free copy of this issue of the magazine, drop into Key Industries in Auckland (while stocks last) or go along to one of the Pest Network training events.<\/p>\n

Pest Network Dates 2024<\/h2>\n

Pest Network training dates for 2024 have been released (pestnetwork. co.nz). The series runs across five venues \u2013 Queenstown, Christchurch, Wellington, Rotorua and Auckland. It starts on Friday May 31 in Queenstown, which rolls into the Kings\u2019 birthday weekend, making it a great opportunity to combine business with pleasure. It finishes in Auckland on Wednesday June 12.<\/p>\n

PMANZ Conference<\/h2>\n

Every second year New Zealand hosts its annual pest control conference, run by the Pest Management Association of New Zealand (PMANZ). This year, the event will be taking place on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August at the Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre in Auckland.<\/p>\n

The title for the 2024 event is \u2018Emerging Challenges in Pest Management\u2019, which will focus on the evolving nature of pest management and the new challenges it presents. Discussions will cover the need for adaptive pest control strategies.<\/p>\n

Speakers at the conference include Dr William Robinson,<\/strong> a renowned pest control researcher and innovator who possesses half a century of experience studying and testing application technologies and techniques. His presentations will look at busting pest control myths, wood protection measures, his research experience with German cockroaches.<\/p>\n

Together with Dr Paul Craddock,<\/strong> biosecurity consultant Helen Blackie<\/strong> will be discussing \u2018Advances in Rodent Monitoring and Control Tools\u2019.<\/p>\n

With invasive mammal pests a key issue in New Zealand, also included in the line-up is Professor Dan Tompkins, science strategy manager at Predator Free 2050 Ltd.<\/p>\n

Other speakers include Australia\u2019s Peter McCarthy<\/strong> from PestIT. His experience of driving innovation in the bird management will see him presenting \u2018New Developments in Bird Management\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cPMANZ is looking forward to welcoming delegates from all across New Zealand and Australia to its August conference,\u201d said Gerwyn Jones,<\/strong> Vice President of PMANZ.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis conference will also be the first where attendance will count towards the newly introduced programme of Continuing Professional Development for Qualified Technicians.<\/p>\n

There are undoubtably learnings to be had with regards to rodent management, including the importance of communication and record keeping, designation of responsibilities for actions, implementation of rodent proofing and generally the challenges of rodent control in a supermarket environment.
