When homeowners discover they have a termite problem, they are immediately looking for reassurance. For pest managers, there\u2019s no better way to reassure them than by telling them all about the Termidor range of failsafe solutions. As Aaron Bonney<\/strong> of P.O.D\u2019s Pest Control in Townsville puts it: \u201cWe give them the bad news, and then we give them the good news.\u201d<\/p>\n

The good news is of course that the Termidor range can both quickly eradicate existing termite infestations and ensure long-term protection against new ones. Even under such severe termite pressure as they face in Townsville, where the conducive climate and prevalence of Mastotermes darwiniensis<\/em> \u2013 the most destructive of all Australian termite species \u2013 combine to set control solutions the toughest of tests.<\/p>\n

Termidor\u2019s reputation for providing impenetrable long-term protection around homes and other buildings possibly tends to overshadow the immediate benefits of treatment in eliminating active termites and creating instant customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n

Both short and long-term termite eradication are provided by the \u2018Genuine transfer effect\u2019, which ensures that termites need not have any contact with the application area to be affected. Termidor is undetectable and non-repellent, so foraging termites come into contact with it without any awareness of the danger they are in.<\/p>\n

Although Termidor can control whole termite populations faster than any other treatment (BASF internal testing), it is relatively slow-acting on individual termites. This gives affected termites plenty of time to carry Termidor back to the nest and help it spread it through the entire colony.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Genuine transfer effect\u2019 is common to all Termidor products, including Termidor Foam<\/a>, Termidor SC<\/a> and the new high-efficiency formulation, Termidor HE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Termidor Foam is a stage one treatment that can be sprayed straight into termite nests. Once applied, the spray expands into a dry foam with thirty times its pressurised volume that holds in place and won\u2019t dissipate like other foam products. When the nest can\u2019t be found, Termidor Foam can be used to fill relatively inaccessible active workings like wall cavities.<\/p>\n

Termidor Foam is so versatile it can be used in almost any conceivable situation where termites are a problem. Jason Kelly<\/strong>, of Safe and Sound Pest Control on the Gold Coast, has found it very convenient for use in bait stations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMixing baits is messy and time-consuming,\u201d said Mr Kelly. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to estimate how much bait you require, so there is often wasted bait. This is in complete contrast to Termidor Foam, where application is quick, tidy and there is no waste.\u201d<\/p>\n

That application in bait stations also shows the \u2018Genuine transfer effect\u2019 at its best, as the termites that visit it carry lethal doses of Termidor back to the undetectable nest and spread them through the colony.<\/p>\n

If Termidor Foam is the top stage one treatment, the leading protective solution (stage two treatment) until this year was Termidor SC. In not having a single product failure since it was launched in 2002, the classic Termidor formulation has set the gold standard which Australia\u2019s leading pest control companies stake their reputation on every working day.<\/p>\n

Since August, though, Termidor SC is no longer the most advanced long-term post-construction termite solution available. That title now belongs to Termidor HE \u2013 as Mr Bonney can enthusiastically confirm.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has a special ingredient that works with the active ingredient and allows it to travel a lot further through the soil,\u201d he explained. \u201cWith Termidor SC, we were drilling holes 150 mm to 200 mm apart. Those spacing distances can increase to 450mm with Termidor HE. We are saving two-thirds of the drilling time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Bonney said they will still offer Termidor SC to their clients and use it in soil areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne doesn\u2019t replace the other, but Termidor HE will be preferred in concrete and tiles where you need to stretch the interval period out. People will pay a bit more for that service.\u201d<\/p>\n

The addition of that new \u2018high efficiency\u2019 option extends the versatility of the Termidor range and the value it can add to any pest control business.<\/p>\n
