Jingle Belles and Pests: A Festive Reflection on WIPM’s 2023

As the year wraps up in tinsel and lights, the Women In Pest Management (WIPM) committee takes a moment to reflect on the achievements of 2023.

This year has been a testament to the dedication of our members, sponsors, and committee, marking a period of immense growth within our esteemed organisation.

We would like to acknowledge the steadfast support of our 340 members – a testament to the strength and unity within WIPM. Our committee has some fresh faces, and they’ve changed up how we do things.

While Nicky Turner remains the President, Amanda Robin is stepping into the shoes formerly filled by Ms Turner to take charge of sponsorship activities in Australia, including the 2024 Recognition Awards. She will also spearhead the oversight of our recently trialled industry-specific mentorship program – a 12-month initiative pairing business owners and employees with pest professional mentors. This program aims to provide invaluable support and guidance, fostering both personal and professional growth among women in our industry.

WIPM remains committed to community outreach, passionately promoting mental health and empowering women to thrive in all aspects of their lives. Our ongoing support for those reaching out to our committee members reflects our commitment to making a real difference in the lives of our members.

A thank you extends to each member of our committee, whose generous volunteerism fuels the success of WIPM. To our sponsors, who took a bold leap of faith this year, supporting our awards, leadership workshops,  networking breakfast, and social events, we express our deepest appreciation. Our achievements this year would not have been possible without their invaluable support.

As we bid farewell to 2023, we eagerly anticipate the exciting opportunities and challenges that await WIPM in 2024. Stay tuned for the opening of the 2024 Recognition Awards and the introduction of a brand new award. We extend an invitation to all members, both male and female, to join our Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/womeninpest) and stay connected.

On behalf of the entire WIPM committee, we extend warm wishes for a festive season filled with joy, peace, and the camaraderie we’ve built together. As we reflect on the achievements of WIPM this year, may the spirit of Christmas inspire us all to continue working collaboratively, creating a brighter future for all.

With international events on the horizon, including a Big Breakfast in New Zealand, WIPM anticipates an exciting and fulfilling year ahead. Look out for our digital Christmas newsletter that will dazzle your screen in December, dedicated to celebrating the remarkable female talent in our industry across Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and the US.

Here’s to a festive season of celebration, unity, and anticipation for the promising year that lies ahead.

Merry Christmas!
