Agserv business consultant Andy Knox asks Ali Ghafoor from AMG Pest Management, “What is your favourite pest control product and why?”
Every pest manager has their go-to product for general pest treatments, so it’s always interesting to hear the reasons why each have their preference. Here, we learn about the favourite product of Ali Ghafoor from AMG Pest Management (pictured above, right).
AMG Pest Management is a small, family-owned company based in the southern suburbs of Brisbane. Mr Ghafoor started in pest control as a technician more than ten years ago and opened his own business about five years ago. He now employs three technicians along with an office manager. The business services about 80% residential and 20% commercial clients. Since that time, Envu’s Temprid75 has become the company’s go-to product for indoor general pest management.
Temprid75 is a general insecticide that will control most insect pests. It is a suspension concentrate that offers a unique dual mode of action by combining two powerful and effective residual insecticides – betacyfluthrin and imidacloprid – to deliver greater control.
“The guys at Agserv put us onto Temprid early in my days in pest control – and we’ve never looked back,” explained Mr Ghafoor. “Aaron Wadsworth and the Agserv team in Brisbane are always happy and willing to lend a hand – and there is always a cold drink or coffee on offer when we call in for stock.”
Although he has tried a few alternative products, Mr Ghafoor has found that nothing has performed as well as Temprid75, so he has always gone back to it.
“When I use Temprid in cracks and crevices or under appliances I see immediate results. Insects appear from their hiding places and die very quickly. Also, my customers regularly tell me that they are still finding dead insects seven or eight months after my treatment. It is a really great product.”
Temprid75 is Mr Ghafoor’s favourite indoor general pest product for many reasons, but particularly because of its fast knockdown, long residual and the fact that using it results in him having zero callbacks. It is also a bonus that Temprid75 dries very quickly, leaving no stains or discolouration. Other products that he has tried have failed on at least one or more of these points.
There are a couple of situations where AMG Pest Management will back up their Temprid treatments with another product. When treating for fleas, for example, Mr Ghafoor will add Starycide to the Temprid75 mix. Starycide is a slow-acting insect growth regulator that has its greatest effect on early juvenile stages of a pest’s life cycle, making it a perfect partner product. If German cockroaches are the main target Mr Ghafoor will supplement his Temprid spray with spot treatments of Maxforce gel.
