Comprising three pesticide-free products, Novithor Termite Protection System allows for any construction type to be securely protected against termite ingress.
The Novithor Pesticide-free Termite Protection System from Ensystex continues to secure increasing market share. A great benefit of Novithor is the fact that it can be installed at a single site visit, whereas every other system requires two site visits. This offers substantial benefits to pest managers and builders alike, together with improved pricing and profitability.
Novithor holds a Codemark Certificate of Conformity, SAIG-08-CM20008, confirming compliance with the Building Code of Australia Volume One BP1.1 & BP1.2, and Volume Two P2.1; including state addition QLD P2.1.1, which requires proof of 50 years’ protection to a building.
Steve Broadbent, Ensystex’s regional director advised, “Codemark accreditation for Novithor provides a great opportunity for professional pest managers. It means that a building inspector must approve a building where Novithor has been correctly installed; and being free of any pesticides makes it an ideal solution for green buildings, the largest growth segment in the building industry.”
Dixon Homes are one of Australia’s largest homebuilders and their Hunter franchise have realised the benefits of Novithor in the termite protection of all their new homes around Australia. Jamie Redding of Alterm Pest Control commented that, “We have been very pleased with the ease and speed of installing Novithor to Dixon Homes’ properties, and the flexibility that Novithor brings to the installation process.
“The flexibility is a key benefit. You don’t have to turn up at a precise time and date to do the install, you can schedule the install over a greater time frame during the construction process than is the case with other systems. Generally, we only need to spray the Novithor Termite-proofing Resin onto the bottom courses of brick mortar. So there is also no need to disrupt other trades during the installation process.”
Mr Broadbent explained that, “Novithor works by creating an impenetrable physical barrier that prevents the ingress of subterranean termites. Novithor consists of three pesticide-free elements that ensure any construction type can be securely protected. The individual elements can also be used in association with other systems, even in post-construction dwellings.”
Novithor Termite Proof Flexi-Gel
This is a high performance neutral cure silicone sealant and adhesive, specifically formulated for termite proofing buildings during construction. It is suitable for use indoors, outdoors or in confined spaces. It is used for termite proofing construction joints and saw cuts in slabs; termite proofing control joints in brickwork or block work; termite proofing tilt slab panels and securing tilt panels; as well as filling construction and expansion joints or crevices in slabs.
Novithor Termite Proofing Resin
This is a liquid formulation containing a specially formulated blend of resins. The Novithor liquid carries the resins deep into the substrate of the brick mortar to be protected, typically penetrating 20mm or deeper. The liquid then evaporates off leaving the resins invisibly embedded in the substrate where they solidify to form a granite-like, impenetrable barrier that termites simply cannot get past. It is applied to masonry mortar joints and rendered masonry surfaces as a low-pressure spray. The main picture above, taken at a trial site, shows how the mortar was protected against termite ingress by both Coptotermes acinaciformis and Mastotermes darwiniensis.
Novithor Termite Proof Cementitious Parge
This is a resinous cement mortar that fills cracks and crevices that termites may exploit to enter a property; protects masonry retaining walls; repairs honeycombing and damage in concrete slabs; and protects pipe penetrations; amongst many other uses. The key difference to ordinary cement mortars is that it contains the unique Novithor resins that solidify and turn it into a granite-like barrier that is impenetrable to termites.
Novithor has been fully tested in rigorous termite trials with both the CSIRO and Agrisearch.
All three elements work together to create an impregnable barrier that termites cannot chew through or damage, and that is resistant to their secretions. Once applied, Novithor is not an eyesore on the completed structure; indeed the finished barrier is invisible to the naked eye. Ensystex are able to confirm its presence through analytical methods to ensure quality control at installations.
