UK parliament is reportedly taking “urgent action” after multiple locations within the Houses of Parliament were found to be crawling with bed bugs. According to The Times newspaper, a statement on the Parliament website declared that the infestation did not originate on the parliamentary estate and was brought in from outside. One MP was quoted as saying, “Usually the public thinks Parliament is stuffed with pests, but this time it is actually true.”
The outbreak underlines the risk historic buildings face from infestation, with some buildings in the parliament complex dating from the 16th century.
